The Wee Singin’ Lassie Fae Carrbridge

Around 2 and a half years ago (or so) (give or take a month or two) (maybe 3)…..sorry – you get the picture.  Twas in the Bothy at the top of Hootananny where a young lady from Carrbridge was making a debut of sorts. Rachel Sermanni.   Amazing voice and the songwriting was mature for a lassie of, I think, 17 at the time. But you know all this, don’t you cos you’ve heard her – you haven’t ?? Well check this out……..

Chatted with her Dad that night, Mr Sermanni – yup that’s right, I’m on surname terms with the musician in questions Dad. I commented that it was easy to see what he and his wife had listened to when young Rachel was growing up, meaning Joni Mitchell and the like only to be told that that wasnt the case and that Rachel was all Rachels creation – even more impressive.

Now I wasnt a pain-in-the-arse with a camera kinda guy back then. Probably had a drink in either hand instead sooooooooo fast forward to August 2010 when Terry at the Ceol-Mor played a blinder in booking Rachel for a pre-Bella gig. He’d shown the foresight to book her months in advance as she was due to be and now is, hot property. This time I was armed with Nikon as I was this year at Belladrum where Rachel performed in the Rockhopper Studio for GoNorth and Netsounds.

Ok bored of writing again – here are the photos…….enjoy !!
